Cd’A Library Returns to Curbside Option

In response to action taken Thursday by the Panhandle Health District (PHD), the Coeur d’Alene Public Library will offer only curbside service as of Friday, Oct. 23.
COVID-19 case rates continue to rise in the PHD area. This combined with increasing test-positivity rates and current hospital capacity has resulted in the Board of Health moving Kootenai and Boundary counties into the Substantial (Red) COVID-19 risk category.
Based on a plan previously approved by the Library Board of Trustees, Library Director Michael Priest announced Thursday that the library will temporarily be closed to the public, but will continue to offer circulation services at curbside Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library will be closed Sundays.
Patrons are able to place holds on materials in the Cooperative Information Network (CIN) catalog by visiting the library website – cdalibrary.org – and logging into their accounts. Patrons may also place holds by phone. Patrons will be notified by email, text, phone call, or postal mail when the materials are available to check out.
At the library, patrons will park in designated spaces and call the library – 208-769-2315 – to let staff know they have arrived to pick up holds. Patrons who do not have cell phones are asked to call from home and let the staff know when they expect to arrive.
All materials being returned must be placed in the outside drop box. Returned materials will be quarantined for 7 days before they are checked in. Previously scheduled online programs, will continue. Patrons picking up children’s crafts, may do so using the system described for holds.
