FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

The Friends of Coeur d’Alene Public Library are a 501 c (3) organization whose purpose is to foster closer relations between the library and the citizens of Coeur d’Alene by promoting knowledge of the resources, services and needs of the library. Through their activities and projects, the Friends’ provide volunteer services and raise funds for special needs beyond the library budget. They proudly provide the library with over $12,000 in financial support annually, which goes towards:

  • Supporting the Summer Reading Program for all ages with programs and book giveaways
  • Sponsoring the annual Julie Meier Writer’s Competition, monthly Pageturners book club,  one-off author presentations and other special events
  • Making special equipment purchases (recent examples include a digital microfilm reader/scanner and Chromebooks for checkout)
  • And more!

The Friends membership donates their time to raise money for the library primarily through Second Story Books, the volunteer-run used bookstore in the library lobby. The Friends additionally raise funds though their annual membership dues, which are renewed annually January 1 through December 31. Dues include:

  • Individuals: $10.00
