Medicare Workshops

SHIBA is presenting a series of senior health workshops at the Library. Join us for any of the series. Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) serves Idahoans on Medicare and those who help them by offering free, unbiased Medicare benefits information and assistance through workshops, group presentations and personal counseling. SHIBA is Idaho’s provider for the federal network of State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs). The program is partially funded by and operated under the authority of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living (ACL).

  • Tuesday, May 21, 2024 (1:30-2:30pm)Medicare Open Q & A-  Bring your questions about Medicare benefits.  We will talk about Medicare coverage for some special conditions.
  • Tuesday, September 17, 2024 (1-2:30pm)Medicare Annual Enrollment: Why do Annual Plan Reviews & have a Medicare.gov account–  Medicare Advantage & Prescription Drug Plans can change their premiums, coverage, network pharmacies and extra benefits each year.  Reviewing your coverage during the annual enrollment period can help you be sure your coverage for next year is the one that will best suit your needs.  
  • Tuesday, October 15, 2024 (1-2:30pm)Using the Medicare Plan Finder – Learn how a Medicare.gov account helps you during open enrollment & throughout the year.
  • Tuesday, November 19, 2024 (1-2:30pm)Changes to Medicare for 2024-  Learn about the changes to Medicare and coverage options for 2024. Part A & B Premiums and deductibles will be shared if released by Medicare prior to this workshop.
  • Tuesday, February 18, 2025 (1-2:30pm)– Medicare Basics and Resources – Medicare Basics- Learn about the basic parts of Medicare and the basic choices for coverage.   This will help you gain a basic understanding of Medicare & getting started
  • Tuesday, April 15, 2025 (1-2:30pm)– Medicare Part B/Wellness and Q & A – Part B & Wellness Benefits.  Learn about Medicare coverage for  outpatient services, medical equipment, and preventative and wellness benefits.
  • Tuesday, September 16, 2025 (1-2:30pm)– Importance of Medicare Review and Ads and Scams – Medicare beneficiaries have the ability to review their current plans and options to make changes to start the 1st of the next year.  Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug plans could change- costs, premiums, co-pays/co-ins, covered drugs, pharmacy contracts, provider networks, extra benefits and other items EACH year.  Make sure your plan is the best plan for your current health needs; you can change or not.
  • Tuesday, October 21, 2025 (1-2:30pm)– Changes to Medicare for 2026 and Using Medicare Plan Finder- Learn about the changes to Medicare and coverage options for 2026. Part A & B Premiums and deductibles will be shared if released by Medicare prior to this workshop.
