Coeur d’Con 2023

Coeur d’Con 2023 – Saturday, August 19 (10-4 pm)

Put Saturday, August 19, (10-4pm) on your calendar, because Coeur d’Con is coming! Coeur d’Con is a jam-packed, family-friendly, pop culture celebration, organized by the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, which celebrates books, movies, games, manga, comics, and all expressions of geek culture.

It’s free to attend! We offer a variety of themed contests, games, crafts, and other activities, with events for every age group throughout the day. Local businesses, artists, and experts exhibit and will sell their goods on the grassy side of the Library, too, offering unique wares and perspectives on pop culture.

What would a comic con be without cosplay? Fans are encouraged to dress to impress for Coeur d’Con. This year’s cosplay contest will be in-person on the day-of. Each contestant’s photo will be taken from 10-11:30am, so be sure to arrive early, so you don’t miss out! Voting will narrow down the contestants, and the finalists will be part of the cosplay ceremony at 3pm. Start making your cosplay outfit now and visit the website in early August to learn more details about this year’s Cosplay contest.

Are you a budding artist looking to show your skills to the community? Applications for the Coeur d’Con Fan Art Contest will be available for download soon from the Cosplay and Fan Art Contest tab or by picking up an entry form at the library. The deadline for Fan Art contestants is August 6. Artwork will be posted and voted on until the end of our Coeur d’Con event. Winners will be selected by popular vote from each age category: littles (0-6), tweens (7-12), teens (13-17), and adults (18+), and will be contacted after the event.

We have several other activities planned, such as two Fan Meetups about the anime favorites, “Demon Slayer” and “Spy x Family”. We’re also planning a “Pokémon Puzzle Race”, so start forming your team of five. (All participants will get to keep the puzzle! The first to finish will win a grand prize, too.) And our take-home craft kits this year will be “Korok Felt Friends” (based on the Koroks from the Legend of Zelda franchise).

There will be a “Make your own Comic Strip with Adam Roth” workshop and other interactive art activities presented by Emerge CDA. There will also be a “Super Storytime” at 10am, and the “CDA Symphony” will be serenading us from the Library terrace at 11am.

For updates, visit our website (coeurdcon.com) as the date gets closer. If you have any questions, get in touch with the Coeur d’Con Team by emailing us at [email protected].

The event is finished.
