J.J. Jaeger, center, local representative to the Idaho Tourism Council, presents a plaque to Coeur d’Alene children’s author Susan Nipp, left, and Ruth Pratt, Executive Director of the Coeur d’Alene Public Library Foundation. The award – presented in May during the Idaho Conference on Recreation and Tourism – recognizes the “Mudgy & Millie” Project for its contribution to the community. The project includes the book, written by Nipp and illustrated by Charles Reasoner; public art, five life-size bronze statues created by wildlife artist Terry Lee; and the Mudgy Moose Trail, developed in cooperation with the City of Coeur d’Alene Parks Department. Mudgy Moose and Millie Mouse will be in the Fourth of July Parade Saturday. Nipp and Lee will be at Independence Point, 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, for a book signing. Copies of the book and “Mudgy & Millie” merchandise will be available to purchase for the Library Foundation. Find information about Mudgy and Millie online at www.mudgyandmillie.com. News about the library and other city departments is also available on the City of Coeur d’Alene news blog: http://cdacity.blogspot.com/.
