Jólabókaflóð at the Library!

Jólabókaflóð (pronounced yo-la-bok-a-flodt) is the Icelandic tradition of book giving. It began in WWII, when paper was far cheaper than imported goods and Icelanders began a tradition of giving books as gifts. This is the third year that the Coeur d’Alene Public Library has brought this tradition to North Idaho and we are so excited to continue it. This December, community members are invited to stop by the library to pick up a free gift-wrapped book. We will have books ready for pick up for people of all ages, though the adult books are the most numerous. What book will you receive? It’s a surprise! You won’t know until you have unwrapped it. Limit one per person while supplies last.
