September is National Library Card Signup Month and Banned Books Week

September is National Library Card Signup Month. There’s nothing more empowering than a library card, and every September libraries across the country try to push the word out about all of their great programs and services. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, libraries provide people of all ages the opportunity to pursue their dreams and passions. Tell your friends and family members to get a card and get on the e-newsletter list to learn about library events today!

Banned Books Week (September 26-October 2, 2021) Typically held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. It brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.
