Preschool Story Time for January 27th: Cozy Comfy Pajama Story Time

We are having a cozy comfy pajama Preschool Story Time this week! Put on your comfiest PJs, slide into your slippers, grab your favorite blankie and stuffed animal, and join us for some great stories. If you haven’t registered yet, you can do so here. Preschool Story Time is every Wednesday at 10:30 via Zoom.

Our letter of the week for pajama week is…P! Talk with your child about what sound P makes. What words start with the letter P? Our shape of the week is rectangle. What objects can you find around your home that are rectangles?

Be sure to pick up your Preschool Story Time Craft Bag curbside at the Coeur d’Alene Library. This week’s craft is a hot chocolate activity where you will use marshmallows to practice your counting skills. There is also a packet of hot chocolate for you to enjoy after your math practice. We have two worksheets this week. The first lets you design your own pajamas. The second is more hot chocolate counting fun! The worksheets are available below in PNG format or download PDFs of the worksheets here: PDFs of Preschool Story Time Extension Activities

You can place the books we read this week on hold here. If you would like to keep the learning going at home, here are some songs, rhymes, and fingerplays you can do together:

Fingerplay: Big Yellow Moon
Big yellow moon shines so bright, (circle overhead)
Glides across the starry night (arms left to right)
Looks down at me (hand shades eyes)
Asleep in bed, (head on hands)
Whispers, “Good night sleepyhead.” (shh)
Big yellow moon, your turn is done (move arms down)
Here comes Mr. Morning Sun (circle overhead)
I wake up. (arms stretch out)
You go to bed. (head on hands)
“Sleep well, Moon, you sleepyhead.” (shh)

Nursery Rhyme
“Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”

Fingerplay: “Going to Bed”
This little child is going to bed (point to self)
Down on the pillow he lays his head (rest head on hands)
He wraps himself in a blanket tight (hug yourself)
And this is the way he sleeps all night (snore)
