You can do more with your computer when you learn about the options available to users. Free workshops and help sessions at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, 702 E. Front Ave., are designed to offer that information. Information Technology Coordinator Christopher Brannon will lead free workshops through November in the library’s Gozzer Room. Workshops are for up to eight participants and are offered on a first-come basis. No preregistration is required. Participants should plan to arrive 15 minutes before the workshop begins. Current workshops have been updated to include information about the Windows 7 operating system and are based on the Microsoft 2007 Office Suite of software. Upcoming workshops include:
Each workshop is 90 minutes long. Participants should have a basic understanding of computers and typing skills. People with little or no experience with computers can take advantage of the ReTool Box, computer literacy help sessions. A joint project of the Coeur d’Alene Library Foundation and North Idaho College, help sessions are designed for those who need to acquire basic computer skills for job opportunities or just to improve communication skills. Seating is limited. Reserve space by calling the Library Foundation at 208-7692380. Upcoming ReTool Box sessions include:
Workshops and ReTool Box sessions are taught using the mobile laptop lab, funded through a major grant from the Women’s Gift Alliance and with additional support from the Idaho Community Foundation and Waste Management of Idaho.
Patrons who need accommodation to participate in library programs or services are asked to contact the staff prior to the activity by calling 208-769-2315. For regular updates follow the library on Facebook and Twitter.
