Teens have their own Summer Program at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library beginning June 10.
The theme is “Beneath the Surface,” for the young adults, ages 12-18, and it offers a wide variety of activities – a book club, teen crafts, movie nights, gaming tournaments and more.
And according to Laura Jenkins, YA Coordinator for the library, teens also have the opportunity to shape programs this summer and for the future.
“Teen volunteering looks great on college and job applications,” she said, “and you get to learn the ins and outs of working at the library.”
Jenkins said that she values the opinions of teens participating in the programs and will help them to make the library their own.
As part of the Summer Program, teens can pick up a reading log at the library and return them for tickets for weekly drawings and for the grand prize drawing on Aug. 2.
YA Summer Programs include:
► Teen Book Club: Ages 12-18, 4-5 p.m., June 10 and 24, and July 8 and 22. Participants will select the books for the group based on genres for each session.
