Library Offers Writing Workshop for Kids

Summer Reading turns to Summer Writing in August with a free workshop for children at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
The Kids Writing Workshop for ages 9-12 will be offered 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Aug. 12, 14, and 16. Parents and guardians are welcome to sit in and participants should bring a sack lunch. The workshops will be presented in the Shirley Parker Storyroom at the library, 702 E. Front Ave.
The workshop will be led by children’s author Wendy W. Snodgrass.


An entrepreneur and advocate for children and teens, Snodgrass is the author of “Barrett's Bears: The Construction Story,” the first in a planned series geared toward students ages 5-8.During the three-day workshop she will demonstrate brainstorming techniques and engage the young writers to develop story ideas, show how to use outlines and storyboarding to create a plot, and also how to create engaging characters and circumstances.
