Write-Ins Give Teens Chance to Create

Do you enjoy reading novels? Ever thought about writing one?
The Coeur d’Alene Public Library, 702 E. Front Ave., is giving teens the time and space to give novel writing a try with a series of “Write-Ins.” Young Adults, ages 12-18 are invited to come to the library where laptops, noveling worksheets, and encouragement will be provided along with coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and snacks.
The library’s laptop lab will be set up in the Gozzer Room for the program that will kick off Friday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. Subsequent sessions are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5; Thursday, Nov. 14; and Friday, Nov. 22. The activity will wrap up on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2-4 p.m.
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) happens every November with the challenge to complete an entire novel in just 30 days. The word-count goal for the adult program is 50,000 words, but the Young Writers Program (YWP) allows 17-and-under participants to set reasonable, yet challenging, individual word-count goals. In 2012, more than 300,000 adults participated and 80,000 young writers participated through the YWP.” For more information visit NaNoWriMo.org.
